Workshop on Volunteering in Europe and the opportunities offered to young people through voluntary work both in Greece and abroad was organized by KMOP on Thursday 24 May 2018 and from 09.30 to 14.00 at Innovathens at the Technopolis venue in the center of Athens. (Piraeus 100, Gazi).
Evi Koutsospyrou, from the National Agency for Erasmus + / Youth Area Youth Foundation and Lifelong Learning, talked about the possibilities offered by the program through voluntary activities throughout Europe. The founder and Managing Director of Ethelon, said “Whatever You Want for Volunteering, HERE!” Yiannis Papavasileiou, Project Manager for KMOP presented the TrainVol education platform, which aims to provide potential volunteers with the skills needed to volunteer in Europe.
The first panel consisted of organizations with individual volunteer programs in Greece: Marinella Giannopoulou, PRAKSIS Volunteer Department, Spyros Boviatsis, Human Resources and Volunteer and Alexandra Panagiotakopoulou, Treasurer from Color Youth were the most suitable people to identify the values that govern their volunteers and the challenges they face. Together with Angeliki Efstathiou, Volunteer Leader from the NGO group “We can” with a series of actions in “Neighborhood”, “Laiki” or “Chorafi”, the panel wascomplemented by Ioanna Markou, Communications Officer of KMOP who presented the Live Without Bullying Volunteer Program.
The second panel consisted of organizations operating abroad, with Nefeli Papagiannakou from Hellenic Youth Participation with great experience in the exchange of volunteers at European level and Vasilis Stoulos from YouInEurope, which provides opportunities for volunteer work in Europe based in Northern Greece. Speakers also included, Emmanuela Paravalou, National Coordinator of the “Exchangeability” project from the Erasmus Hellenic Students’ Association, and finally, Konstantinos Todoulos, Project Manager, on the possibilities offered by the Center for Social Action and Innovation – KMOP for participation in European projects.
