Association of Volunteering Volonterski Centar Skopje
“Volunteers Centre Skopje” is a non-governmental youth organization created in 2005 by former EVS volunteers and officially register in March 2006. The main goal of the organization is to give non-formal educational possibilities to the young people, in different fields, in local and international level; to promote the idea of volunteerism and to connect young people without reference to their nationality, religion, political, economical or social status. We are putting effort to develop a multicultural civil society, to reinforce the existing democratic structure, to enhance the affirmation of young people through their individual abilities and skills, and to connect the young people with the purpose of their closer cooperation. Our organization has accreditation for sending and receiving EVS volunteers (European Voluntary Service) in the framework of the “Youth In Action” and Erasmus Plus Programme, supported by the European Commission.
Volunteers Centre Skopje, as of August 2013, has the role of Regional office for the City of Skopje, for the Coalition of youth organizations SEGA. Our task as regional office is to be contact point for the coalition and to help and coordinate all the regional activities on the territory of the city of Skopje, organized by the Coalition SEGA.
In the11 years of existence, Volunteers Centre Skopje is very active in the promotion of the voluntary spirit among the young people all around Macedonia. On European level, till now, we have sent more than 150 volunteers from Macedonia in various European countries and hosted more than 200 volunteers, on short or long term EVS projects. Volunteers Centre Skopje, also, till now has received grants from the EACEA for the implementation of more than 40 projects, like youth exchanges, training courses, seminars and etc under YiA and all of this projects, directly or indirectly have been connected with promotion of voluntarism and non-formal education., Under Erasmus + program till now we host 30 EVS, and we host two Training Course were the applicant was other NGO, we were partners in more than 50 project and this year we receive grant directly from EACEA for project in the field of Capacity building .This project had big impact to the participants and the local community were the project take place.
In the period 2010-2014, our organization is very much active in the field of creation of youth policies. Thus, we are one of the main carriers of the processes of the creation of the Local youth strategies for the City of Skopje, the Municipality of Kisela Voda (Skopje) and the Municipality of Tetovo. We were also coordinators of the creation of two more strategies, the Local strategy for cooperation between the municipality and the civil sector of the Municipality of Kisela Voda (Skopje) and the Strategy for cultural heritage between the municipalities of Brvenica (Macedonia) and Bilisht (Albania), part of “IPA cross border cooperation” project.
In the text bellow, you can find short info about other projects, which were directly implemented by VCS or in cooperation with our local, national and international partner organizations:
– Voluntary daily workshops with roma kind in the Daily centre for children from the streets in Shuto Orizari since 2007 (with permission from our Ministry of labor and social policy);
– Hosting and coordinating of foreign EVS volunteers on the XIV Biennial of Young Artists from Europe and the Mediterranean in Skopje 2009, in cooperation with BJCEM from Italy;
– Hosting and coordinating of local and EVS volunteers for the alternative theatre festival Faces Without Masks, in the years 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015and 2016, in organization of the Youth Cultural Centre and the “Theatre 007” from Skopje;
– Promotion of voluntary spirit trough the projects “Be Active, Be Healthy” in 2011 and “Be Healthy. Work out in Nature” in 2013, both supported by the City of Skopje;
– Implementation of panel discussions on the theme “GMO in our food”, in the framework of the project “COHEIRS”, in cooperation with the Coalition SEGA and ALDA;
– Other projects, workshops, trainings and etc. in the area of promotion of voluntarism and non-formal education.
